Breaking in the Fab Paper

Ok, I did it! I finally was brave enough to try using the Fabriano Medivalis Paper I had to have! I am a chicken(should have made a chicken card) I was afrais to use this expensive watercolor paper. Its very high quality and I was afraid of messing it up. In fact, I did mess one up. The second one I tried I goofed it and now I had to throw it away. This card uses the Easy elegance SU set and the colors are Apricot, Red, Celery and Mustard. I used markers to color the stamps and then misted the stamp before applying it to the paper. Jody Morrow taught me that trick and it usually works just fine.I also used an Amuse sentiment and black ink.

Target $ Spot Magnet Board

Today I altered this Target $1 spot magnet board. I had been to my LSS and saw a magnet board altered and thought it was a fantastic idea but the owner wouldn't tell me where she got the magnet boards. Hers were bigger than this one, probably 8" x 10". I was on the phone with Jody and got all excited and told her about it and she says to me, "Karen, those are at Target". I couldn't believe it so I had to go see for myself. Target had these, they are much smaller but they work the same. It looks like a piece of metal flashing that is bent to make it stand. I picked up a few of these to try. This is my first one. The mod podge isn't working as good as it should, I had to use some Crystal effects on a few spots. Some red line tape in some other spots so I need to find the right adhesive to use on these before I give any away. The paper is Bohemia by My Minds Eye. Oh and the red glitter heart magnets that came with the board were not going to work so I covered them with matching paper and then put stickles over the top for sparkles. Enjoy!

Sage and Plum and Cocoa challenge

This weeks Splitcoast color challenge is Sage, Cocoa and Pale Plum. I never seem to have sage paper but I managed to find a piece of 12 x 12 that I could cut down and use. I am still stuck on the Like it A Latte set (must be the weather). The background was stamped in versamark ink first(the hearts). Then the center piece has Print pattern and french script layered using cocoa craft ink and vanilla craft inks. The heart on the coffee cup is stamped in versamark then in classic plum ink and sprinkled with Ranger Rainbow clear Embossing Powder and heat set. I cut it out and adhered it using foam pop dots. The whole panel is adhered with pop dots. I used some ribbon I got from my LSS. I decided to add the three mini brads at the last minute. Hope you enjoy it!

Coaster Box

My very first coaster box as made from the tutorial on SCS. I used Basic Grey Blush Paper to cover the outside. The inside is stamped using canvas background from SU and then the print pattern background over it. The colors are close to cocoa and rose red on the inside. The ribbon is a soft blue that I got from a ribbon share. I also used a chipboard flower that was painted in white acrylic paint, then sponged in brown and rose and speckled with blue.

Still playing

Yes Jody I am still playing with the cuttlebug embossed paper you sent me! LOL.........still resisting cuttlebugitis! Here is another card I made this afternoon. The bad weather is good for my stamping.

Cuttlebug Gift

My friend Jody sent me some embossed images that she made with her new cuttlebug. I am resisting the urge to buy the cuttlebug even though I want to emboss on white core papers and sand them and make them look so pretty! LOL. I love the way it looks! If I ever get the cuttlebug I will be buying every single embossing folder they come out with because I LOVE the way it looks. I know, I know, resistance is futile. Anyway, Jody used the paper she had that was white core so I could play with it. I love it, Thank You Jody! I finally used one of the cute little charms I have been hoarding as well. The Paper Studio came out with metal tiny safety pens and in the jewelry dept at Hobby Lobby they sell these adorable charms. In my opinion they are perfect for card embellishing! I also broke out the scalloped oval again. It was feeling neglected! I am going to make an attempt to start stamping again! WoooHoooo!
