I needed a few birthday cards this month and I need to get busy with them. This uses the Living large set from Stampin' Up and the paisly background stamp. It didn't dawn on me until today that I never replaced my Rose Romance ink with Regal Rose so I am a little off on my color pallette. I chose Regal Rose, Celery and Apricot as my colors for this card. I have no idea other than its gotta be hard having a December birthday and getting all your cards made in christmas colors. It just seemed more festive in bright colors. Enjoy!

My first Petal Prints
Here is my first card made with petal print. I avoided purchasing this set for a very long time even though I loved it. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to come up with anything original because so many people already had it. I used the SCS color challenge as my guide to get me started. I also used the linen background stamp and a 7Gypsies birthday stamp. The colors are blush, cranberry crisp and True Thyme.

Oh oooo ahhhhhh Basic Grey!
Today I went to my LSS and scored the new Basic Grey Fruitcake and Dasher papers. I was disappointed they ran out of the paper packs and I had to buy individuals. The saleswoman said they sold practically before they hit the shelves and they had a wait list! They are so pretty! I also got these Rhonna Ferrar clear stamps by Autumn Leaves....the Flourishes pack. I had a hard time choosing these because there are several styles. This one seemed to be more appropriate for card making. I can't wait to try them.

Another color combo card
I decided to give this color scheme another chance. Its Certainly celery, elegant eggplant and bordering blue. I stamped the flowers multiple times without re-inking to make some of them dark and some light to add some depth to the image. Then I layered it and added a layer of vellum over the top with the sentiment stamped on it using stazon ink. The designer label punch and some ribbon and a prima seemed to make it all come together.

I might have a small problem...
Of course some would say, "not a problem at all". Well I have been eyeing this AC ribbon at Hobby Lobby for some time and it finally went on sale for 50% off. Well who am I to miss out on a bargain. I had a hard time deciding on a color scheme. None of them really match Stampin' Up colors, of course I can't let a little thing like that stop me now can I? I think I can make it work with my paper and ink if I try hard enough. Yes they will be extraordinary color schemes and outside the norm, but marching to the beat of my own drum has never been a problem for me. I am making it my goal to use this ribbon and make the colors work for me. If not, they had more!

Color Challenge for the day
Ahhhhh wrapped and ready!
I received my first batch of ribbon and cards to wrap them on and spent about 3 hours or so wrapping it up. I ran out of the organizing cards and will be getting some more soon I hope. I love how pretty the ribbon looks all wrapped up and organized. I am participating in a second round of ribbon swaps so I will be all stocked up for a long time. I have 10 yards of ribbon per card and 42 colors. I think 10 yards is about all these cards can hold comfortably. I could squeeze more on but I think it would make it too bulky. I am so happy with the organizing drawers too. I will need another 1-2 by the time all is said and done. Hope I can find more. They work great.!
* I have had some questions reguarding these ribbon cards and drawers. They are the 3 x 3 ribbon cards by Cropper Hopper and the drawers are 3 x 3 also. I got my drawers at Hobby Lobby. I got the ribbon cards and clips from an ebay store. HTH.........I will look for a link and see if I can find it again.

Nothing New
Today I did not stamp.........I am working on organizing the ribbon from the ribbon swap. I got some ribbon cards to wind it on. They are from Cropper Hopper and I got them off Ebay. I don't have enough but my friend Nicki has me on a list someplace at her LSS and is supposed to be getting some when they come in. They work very well and I hope I can get some more because I have more ribbon. I am putting it in a 3x3 drawer from cropper hopper too. It seems like it will work great for storage. I need more though. I also lost like 5 bid wars on ebay for a Nintendo Gamecube system for my son for his birthday. I will try it again tomorrow. I was offered a second chance offer on one but its not as good a deal(came with fewer games) I am not sure I want that one now. Anyway, thats what I have done today. Bid on ebay, wind ribbon, housework, grocery shopping and the usual boring stuff I do. Maybe I can stamp tomorrow;)
Also, Rosie Rabbit has a bad ear infection.........might be ear mites so we are trying olive oil treatment as recommended on a web site for rabbits. Now I am worried about her. She is the sweet, tiny black rabbit.

Cranberry Snowman
Good Friday Morning. I little seasonal snowman to get me in the card making mood. I actually used some of my new favorite fall/christmas Primas *gasp* I love these colors in the Primas.I purchased 2 bottles when my store had them (and I never do that) They are just great colors for me. I love my little Stampabilities snowman too. Naturally I used the Aida cloth Background stamp....its the new canvas for me LOL. Using the holiday designer paper in small amounts seems to be the way to go with this busy print. Happy Friday!

Tree CASE
I saw a card on SCS that I knew I had to case.......it was so pretty but it was in Night of Navy. I don't have NON ink so I had to change the colors. Mine is slightly different, but it is a close case. The card is by StampinFlo (AKA Maria Flores). Here is my card. It uses Lovely as A Tree, French script, Print Pattern, And a tag stamp. The CS is mellow moss, always artichoke and vanilla. Vanilla craft ink was used on the background and tag. Artichoke was used to ink the tree and french script on the vellum strip. The sponging is moss. Artichoke eyelets and a mellow moss eyelet were also used.
{ here are the 3 cards I made using this design. I tried using my NON marker on the middle card but it was really hard to do and I wasn't about to do more than one that way. I decided to stamp the Not Quite Navy card in versamark first then into the NQN ink. I then embossed it in the Ranger Rainbow Embossing powder to add a sparkle. The tags were stamped in white pigment ink, then embossed in the sparkle ep as well. It looks so much prettier in real life. I like the NQN card the best and may actually try mass producing these. }The OSW foursome

wooohoooo its a ribbon fiesta!
Color Inspirations
Sometimes I get stuck on something I have seen and I get inspired by it. This is a picture from a Crate and Barrel catalogue I have. Its wrapping paper, but all I saw was an opportunity for a One Sheet Wonder to make some cards for the holidays. Now the first card isn't great , but I hope to improve them as I get going.I used Pink Passion, Green galore, and Real red, along with a silver Brilliance ink in the background. The stamp sets are Snowflake Spot and Tag Alongs. The ribbon is American Craft and I need to go get me some more because I emptied the ribbon spool in this color(the horror).

Unveiling the new project
I have a new project I have been working on this week. I was at my LSS on Tuesday and saw that they were having a class on altering the Starbucks Frapuccino holders and filling them with sugar cookie mix. They wanted 25.00 for the class and I wasn't even wild about the paper they used. I decided to come home and make my own. After a trip to the store and force feeding my daughter to drink them, I began to make it myself. I used the holiday paper from Stampin' Up to make it. It was easy but time consumming trying to decide what should be covered and with what. But I am pleased with it in the end. The cookie cutter was from Hobby Lobby and they are 2/.50. The only thing I plan to change before handing these out to my friends/family is I plan to run out and see if I can find some sugar sprinkles and possibly a small wooden rolling pin. The mix is Krusteaz Holiday Sugar cookie mix and I got it at Costco. It comes in a huge box with about 8 pouches in it. Each pouch will fill 2 jars completely full (I had to pack it in there tight)

Sketch Challenge
Here is my card for the SCS sketch challenge this week. I have actually used this sketch before after seeing it in the Take Ten magazine months ago. I am struggling to like this blue and olive designer paper from Stampin' Up. It was in with the holiday paper. I really don't like the 2 colors together, I don't think they match but I went for it anyway. I also used the star shaped chipboard and covered it with the matching paper and inked the edges for definition. I hope you like it.
Major Award!
I am so excited......I won a major award from my friend Jennie. She had a contest on her blog ( Jennie ' s blog) and I won. She is a designer for 2jills.com and a talented scrapper. She also is a rep for Xyron and woohooo........I got a refill for my 510 and she gave me a sticker maker from xyron!!! Also included in my major award were a circle book kit from 2jills, candy, AC ribbon roll, and 2 adorable bunny rabbit stamps. She also made a card for me using basic grey paper, its one of those file shaped cards. Thank you Jennie.........you are the best!
